Bluetongue Brewery Cafe Story Bluetongue started in the Hunter Valley in 2003 as an idea, in a pub, over a beer with mates. The idea was to brew a premium Australian beer for the modern palate, in a location where it was needed the most: wine country. That idea turned into the first Bluetongue Beer, which was brewed using the regions' finest malted barley and three varieties of hops (instead of the regular one or two). The somewhat unique triple hopping process resulted in a beer with the perfect balance of flavour, aroma and finish. With the success of the first beer, the Bluetongue range expanded to include Bluetongue Premium Lager, Bluetongue Premium Light, Bluetongue Traditional Pilsner and Bluetongue Ginger Beer. And, after four expansions, the brewery quickly outgrew its home at the Hunter Resort. Bluetongue has grown to become Australia's 6th biggest brewery.
