Facts:
Did you know that the Sydney Aboriginals had no 'S' in their vocabulary. The first settlers would teach them words like 'salt' which was pronounced 'talt' by the Aboriginals.

There is a general misconception that the word 'kangaroo' meant "I don't know." The reason for this was that when Captain Cook was making repairs to his ship "The Endeavour" in the river he named "Endeavour River" in what is now Cooktown, Queensland, he observed for the first time an animal that jumped on its hind legs. The local Aboriginals of the area called this animal a kangaroo. When the First Fleet arrived in Sydney Cove they asked the local Aboriginals about the 'kangaroo' which prompted the reaction of "I don't know."
