Daily School Bus Service

Daily School Bus Service Sydney

Private Before & After School Runs, Campus Shuttles, Sport, Swimming & Activity Transport | NSW Accreditation No. 39461

Every school day, thousands of Sydney families face the same logistical challenge — getting children to school safely, on time, and without the daily burden of driving. Public school bus routes are fixed and inflexible. They serve the majority but not every school, not every address and not every time a school needs a bus to move. That gap is where Sydney Charter Bus Australia operates.

We provide private daily school bus services for independent schools, Catholic schools, public schools and educational organisations across Greater Sydney. Before-school pickup runs, after-school drop-off routes, inter-campus shuttles, weekly sport transport, swimming carnival routes and recurring activity buses — all operated by Transport for NSW accredited vehicles and drivers who hold current Working With Children Checks. Daily School Bus Services We Provide

Every school has different transport requirements. Sydney Charter Bus Australia provides private daily school bus services across the full spectrum of school transport needs — from a single morning pickup run to a full contracted daily service covering multiple routes and return legs.

Service What It Covers Best For
Before-school pickup run A fixed morning route collecting students from nominated pickup points — street corners, local landmarks, residential areas — and delivering them to school before the first bell. Runs on a fixed schedule, Monday to Friday, for the duration of the school term. Routes are planned around student addresses and school entry times. Independent and Catholic schools serving students from a wide catchment area, schools without public bus access
After-school drop-off run A fixed afternoon route collecting students at the school gate and delivering them to their nominated drop-off points at the end of the school day. Can be configured as a single-destination run (all students to one area) or a multi-stop circuit serving different suburbs on the same route. Schools with students living in multiple suburbs not served by a single public route
Before & after combined daily contract A full daily service covering both the morning pickup and the afternoon drop-off on a contracted basis. A dedicated vehicle and driver are assigned to the school for the duration of the contract, providing consistency of service and eliminating daily coordination. Contract rates apply — typically lower than one-off booking rates. Schools seeking a long-term, reliable contracted transport partner for their student community
Inter-campus shuttle A daily shuttle connecting two or more campuses of the same school — moving students, staff and materials between a primary and secondary campus, or between a main campus and a satellite facility. Runs at fixed times aligned to timetables and changeover periods. Common for schools that have expanded to multiple sites across different suburbs. Multi-campus independent schools, schools with early learning centres on separate sites, schools with sports or arts facilities at a second location
Weekly sport bus A recurring transport service running on one or more fixed days per week to take students from school to a sporting facility, oval, playing field, aquatic centre or inter-school competition venue. The bus collects the relevant students, waits at the facility, and returns the group to school. Can run every week of term or as a rolling programme aligned to the sporting calendar. Schools with sports programmes held at facilities away from the main campus — rugby, rowing, swimming, athletics, cricket, football
Swimming and aquatics transport Regular transport from school to an aquatic centre for swimming lessons, swimming squads, water polo, diving and PDHPE aquatics programmes. Typically runs on fixed days through a school term, with consistent student groups and the same pickup and return timing each week. Our most frequently requested recurring school transport service. Schools whose aquatics programmes are held at a local council pool, an aquatic centre or a facility not within walking distance of the school
Activity and co-curricular transport Recurring transport for co-curricular programmes that take place away from the main campus — band practice at a rehearsal studio, drama at an arts centre, debating at another school, chess at a community venue, or any other regular off-campus activity. Scheduled on a per-activity basis and invoiced at contracted rates. Schools with active co-curricular programmes that extend beyond the campus
Early morning training & boarding school runs Early morning transport for elite sport training squads — rowing, swimming, athletics, cycling — where training sessions commence before the standard school day begins. Also covers regular boarding school pickup and drop-off runs between the school and a nominated collection point for weekly boarders. GPS and IGSSA schools with elite sport programmes, boarding schools and weekly boarder arrangements

✓ Working With Children Check — Every Driver, Every School Service

All Sydney Charter Bus Australia drivers operating school transport services hold a current, verified Working With Children Check (WWCC) issued by the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian.

Safety, Compliance & Driver Standards

Transporting students is one of the most significant responsibilities any transport operator undertakes. Sydney Charter Bus Australia treats school transport as a distinct and elevated service category — not simply a bus hire booking with children on board. The following standards apply to every daily school bus service we operate.

Standard Detail
Working With Children Check (WWCC) Every driver operating any school transport service holds a current WWCC issued by the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 (NSW). WWCC verification is checked and confirmed before any driver is assigned to a school contract. This applies to all services — daily runs, excursions, sport routes and all other school transport.
Transport for NSW Accreditation Sydney Charter Bus Australia holds NSW Accreditation No. 39461 under the Bus Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) administered by Transport for NSW. All vehicles used for school transport are accredited under this scheme and meet all applicable maintenance, inspection and safety standards required by Transport for NSW. Our accreditation is publicly verifiable on the Transport for NSW register.
Seatbelted vehicles All Sydney Charter Bus Australia vehicles used for school transport are fitted with three-point lap-sash seatbelts for every passenger position. Seatbelts are not optional on school services — all students are required to wear their seatbelt for the entire duration of the journey. Our school bus fleet meets and exceeds the seatbelt requirements under the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2017 (NSW).
Student behaviour management Under Transport for NSW’s Guidelines for Managing School Student Behaviour on Buses, private operators providing school transport are responsible for student behaviour on their vehicles. Our drivers are briefed on student conduct expectations before commencing any school contract. Where student behaviour presents a safety risk, the driver has the authority to halt the service. The school is notified immediately and is responsible for managing the situation.
Driver consistency Wherever operationally possible, the same driver is assigned to a daily school run for the duration of the contract. Consistent drivers become familiar with the route, the students, the school’s specific requirements and any individual student needs. This consistency builds trust with families and school administration and is a standard we actively maintain.
Punctuality and route discipline Daily school runs operate on fixed schedules. Pickup times at each stop are confirmed at contract commencement and are consistently maintained. Where a driver is running behind schedule due to traffic or operational issues, the school’s designated contact is notified. We do not deviate from agreed routes without prior notification and authorisation from the school.
Anaphylaxis awareness Any student with a known anaphylaxis risk who regularly travels on our school bus must be declared to us at the time of contract commencement. Our Anaphylaxis Management Policy applies to all school transport services. The school is responsible for ensuring the student’s prescribed medication is available on the vehicle at all times.

Why Private Schools Choose a Private Daily Bus Operator

Independent schools, Catholic schools and selective schools in Sydney regularly engage private bus operators for daily transport services that the public network does not cover or does not cover adequately. The reasons are practical, not merely preferential.

Reason Why It Matters to Schools
Wide catchment area Independent schools draw students from across the entire Greater Sydney basin — students from the Northern Beaches attending schools in the Eastern Suburbs, students from Western Sydney attending schools on the North Shore. Public bus routes serve suburbs, not school catchments. A private daily run can be designed to serve the actual student addresses enrolled at a particular school.
School-specific timing Independent schools often have different start and finish times from surrounding public schools. A school starting at 7.50am with sport on Tuesday afternoons finishing at 5.30pm has specific transport requirements that the public network cannot flex to accommodate. A private contract is built entirely around the school’s timetable, not the other way around.
Professional presentation For schools where presentation and reputation matter, the vehicle and driver representing the school in the community are part of the school’s brand. A dedicated, consistently clean, accredited vehicle with a professional WWCC-cleared driver communicates to families that the school takes student transport seriously.
Accountability to the school A private contracted operator is directly accountable to the school — not to a government department or a network timetable. When a school has a transport concern, they call their contact at Sydney Charter Bus Australia. Issues are addressed directly and immediately. This direct accountability is not possible with public network services.
Flexibility during school events A contracted private operator can adjust timing, pickup points and routes to accommodate special school events — sports days, speech nights, performances, camps and retreats — without the lead times required to modify a public route. Changes to the contracted service are managed directly between the school and our operations team.

🏫 Our School Bus Fleet

Daily school runs operate in vehicles matched to the student group size and route type. A morning pickup serving 15 students from a single suburb runs in a 20-seat Toyota Coaster. A cross-suburb route serving 40 students operates in a full-size seatbelted coach. All school transport vehicles are seatbelted, air-conditioned and maintained to Transport for NSW accreditation standards. For groups with accessibility requirements, please advise us at the time of enquiry. See our accessibility information and full fleet page →

📄 Invoicing & Purchase Orders

School contract services are invoiced on a monthly or term basis, with full itemised detail of all services provided. Purchase Orders are accepted. All invoices include full GST breakdowns and are issued in a format compatible with school accounting systems. Payments can be made by EFT, credit card or P-Card. See our payments page →

📄 School Terms & Conditions

All daily school bus contracts operate under our School Terms & Conditions, which cover student conduct requirements, duty of care obligations, overtime and waiting time, biohazard cleaning responsibilities, anaphylaxis management and all other legal conditions specific to school transport. Schools are asked to review the School Terms & Conditions before entering into a contract.
