What Is the Australasia Bus & Coach Expo?
The Australasia Bus and Coach Expo is a world-class trade exhibition dedicated entirely to the bus and coach industry. Managed by BusNSW and supported by the Bus Australia Network, which includes the Bus Industry Confederation and the state associations, it draws exhibitors and visitors from across Australia, New Zealand and beyond. The Expo is held biennially, returning to Sydney Showground as its home, and spans two full days of displays, demonstrations, briefings and industry networking.
Covering nearly 14,000 square metres of exhibition space, the event assembles more than 100 exhibition booths and in excess of 50 million dollars worth of buses, coaches and equipment in a single venue. For anyone whose work touches passenger transport, it is an unmatched opportunity to evaluate vehicles and technology side by side, meet suppliers face to face, and take the measure of where the industry is heading. Entry is free, and visitors register ahead of the event.

The Future of Bus & Coach Mobility: Zero-Emission Focus
The defining theme of the modern Expo is the industry’s transition to zero-emission transport, and it is here that the event truly comes into its own. The exhibition floor has become the principal showcase in this part of the world for battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell buses, the technologies that will define the next generation of public and private passenger transport.
Transport for NSW has been a driving force in the transition to zero-emission buses, and the Expo provides the natural meeting point where government policy, manufacturer innovation and operator investment intersect. Visitors can compare electric and hydrogen drivetrains directly, speak with the engineers and manufacturers behind them, and understand the practical realities of fleet electrification, from charging infrastructure to range, payload and whole-of-life cost. For an operator weighing the move to zero-emission vehicles, there is no more efficient way to evaluate the options than seeing them assembled together in one hall.
Alongside the drivetrains themselves, the Expo showcases fleet modernisation, advanced safety systems, accessibility technology, telematics, depot and charging solutions, and the full supply chain of components and services that keep a modern fleet on the road.
What You Will See & Do at the Expo
| Vehicle displays | The latest buses, coaches and chassis from leading manufacturers, including zero-emission models, displayed for close inspection and comparison. |
| Exhibition booths | More than 100 booths spanning vehicles, components, technology, finance, insurance, safety and operational services. The entire industry supply chain in one place. |
| Technical workshops | Sessions and briefings covering industry developments, regulation, technology and the practical questions facing operators today. |
| Industry and government briefings | Opening programs and briefings that bring operators up to date on policy direction, funding and the regulatory landscape. |
| Social functions | A Welcome Function and an industry Gala Dinner provide the relaxed setting where much of the sector’s relationship-building happens. These networking events are a highlight of the Expo calendar. |
| Networking | The chance to meet key contacts from across the bus and coach industry, raise a company’s profile, and build the connections that drive the sector forward. |
Why It Matters for Operators
For bus and coach operators, the Expo is far more than a day out of the depot. It is a genuine growth opportunity, a rare chance to do in two days what would otherwise take months of separate meetings and site visits. Operators come to meet key industry contacts, to be seen among the leading suppliers, to raise their company’s profile, and to evaluate and source the products and services that will shape their fleet for years to come.
The value is concentrated and practical. Where else can an operator inspect a dozen vehicles from competing manufacturers in an afternoon, sit down with finance and insurance providers, assess the latest safety and telematics systems, and discuss the realities of electrification with the people who build the buses, all in a single venue? Add the social functions, where the conversations that lead to deals and partnerships so often begin, and the Expo earns its place as the most important date on the industry calendar.
